Each Tuesday, we meet at the public car park in Low Bradfield. There are usually two separate groups which head out onto the trails around Bradfield for between 70 and 85 minutes.
We run in all weather so please come prepared for the conditions. At this time of year that includes carrying a headtorch so that you can see where you’re going!v
If you’re interested, you can tell us that you’re coming on RunTogether. It does help us speed things up on the night if you can book on using RunTogether, and we’ll also know to look out for you!
Group 1: 5 – 6 miles, 75 – 85 minutes
Group 1 normally covers between 5 and 6 miles in around 75 – 85 minutes. We run on trails and normally take in a few hills (they’re a bit difficult to avoid!) meaning that this is a little harder than the equivalent distance on the roads.
Group 2: 6 – 7 miles, 70 – 85 minutes
Group 3 heads out for a run of around 6 to 7 miles in 70 – 85 minutes depending on the terrain. We cover some quite technical ground and we don’t stop much so you should be comfortable running off road. The routes are often quite steep, so expect several sharp climbs and descents.
As we’re out on the trails, we ask you to bring a few items of equipment to keep yourself safe. These won’t always be required in the Summer months when the weather is nice, however from August onward we will be finishing in the dark.
- Headtorch (from August bank holiday through to May)
- Waterproof layers
- Warm layers (top & bottom)
- Hat & Gloves
- Water / food
- Trail or Fell running shoes
Stu has written a more detailed guide on self sufficient trail running in winter which goes into more detail on the equipment, and the reasons we ask you to carry it.
How fit do you need to be?
If you can run 5 miles on road, then you will be fine to come along. If you cannot yet run 5 miles without stopping, then just give us a shout before you join us 🙂
